Nottingham Playhouse 2005-2014

Education Officer/ Youth Theatre Director

Alongside my extensive youth theatre directing credits (please see directing page) I have also led on a unique work experience opportunity, (Upstart), which requires the young people to create a piece of theatre in two weeks and receive from seminars theatre staff, pre and post-show discussions, a club for seniors called Encore, advisor and moderator on ACE Arts Award and the nationally renowned Critics Circle;encouraging the reviewers of the future. Add in the university work, workshops in schools that support the curriculum delivery and creating educational support material for teachers and it somewhat covers the variety and scale of the work I took on.

A highlight of my Playhouse work came in January 2014 where I had the opportunity to travel to Sarajevo to train their facilitators to deliver the cities’ first ever Youth Theatre programme.

v

Arts Council, Education and Learning Officer

This was a really interesting short- term contract and an eye-opening insight to the other side of the arts world to front- line delivery. I enjoyed assessing Grants for the Arts applications and supporting schools as they applied for ArtsMark and Specialist Arts Status applications.

PSDI Team 1000 Cranes SL 7

Nottinghamshire County supported scheme that took drama workshops on PSHE issues into primary and secondary schools across the county. Classroom workshops included drug and alcohol awareness and structurally contained actor led scenes and facilitation; to encourage children to comment on and learn from the action.
